Micah and Miss Millie had just left the McCain ranch. They were headed back to North Fork after a hearty Thanksgiving dinner with Lucas and Mark. Lucas was sitting by the fireplace reading and Mark was just finishing up the supper dishes. After Mark had finished the dishes, he sat down next to his father and they began to talk:

Pa, it sure was good to have Micah and
 Miss Millie over for Thanksgiving dinner.

Yes it was son.

 Wow. That Miss Millie sure is pretty.

Yes she is Mark

And Micah, did you see how much he ate? He was sure hungry.

MARK!

Pa, we really do have a lot to be thankful for. Well . . . with Micah and Miss Millie and our ranch and all.  I remember when we first came here. I was a little boy.  We had nothing. At least not what other folks had.

Mark, we had each other and that was enough.

Pa, you know what I mean.

Son, what you call nothing, I call everything. We were together and that made me the richest man alive. I didn’t need anything else. I had you. Take this time on this special day to give thanks for what we have. OK Mark? We have a lot to be thankful for.

Yes Pa. I guess I never gave it much thought before.

Mark, being here with you has made this the best Thanksgiving ever. I love you Mark.

Its time to turn in. We have a busy day ahead of us tomorrow.
