Walter F. O'Malley, President of the Los Angles Dodgers

Walter Francis O'Malley (October 9, 1903 – August 9, 1979) was an American lawyer who was the principal owner of the National League Brooklyn Dodgers professional baseball team (from 1958 the Los Angeles Dodgers). As owner of the Dodgers, he played a role in two of the key events in the history of both the club and the major leagues: Jackie Robinson's breaking of the color barrier in 1947 and the expansion of the major leagues to the West Coast, moving the Dodgers from Brooklyn to Los Angeles and coordinating the move of the New York Giants to San Francisco at a time when there were no teams west of Missouri. For this, he was long vilified by Brooklyn Dodger fans.

He was elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame.

Walter O’Malley was president of the Dodgers from 1950-1970, and chairman of the board,
1970 until his passing in 1979.

Chuck use to be an employee of Walter O'Malley's.

Ex-Dodger first baseman Chuck Connors star of the weekly series, who is pictures here with O'Malley, still believed in touching all bases.  Connors decided that since his ex-boss allowed him to perform on the diamond, that it was only fair play the he returned the favor and let O'Malley ham it up for the camera.
