Johnny Ginger

How many of you remember Johnny Ginger?

Johnny was in the episode #131 'Two Ounces of Tin' as Ted.  Ted was the guy who threw a bucket of water into the street in the beginning of this episode. Also the guy to the left of Mark when Mark confronts Tip Corey when asked.....Go ahead McCain, go ahead and ask them! Ask them.....who will pick up the badge?"

Johnny Ginger was on WXYZ in Detroit in the morning in the 1960s and was the host of the 3 stooges show -- he would introduce the 3 stooges film shorts and do some comedy sketches and things.  All the bad guys in "The Outlaws is Coming" were the local hosts of 3 stooges shows from all around the country -- a gimmick that really helped with publicity to get all us kids to go see the last movies the 3 stooges ever made.
Johnny Ginger also had some bit parts in ABC shows around that time, as did Rita Bell, who hosted the morning movie.  I think ABC owned WXYZ.  Thanks John D. for this info!

I got this e-mail from Sean asking me if I would like to see this film.  I wrote back to Sean & told him that I would love to see this clip & so would the fans.

Here is a clip off of a 16 mm film from back 46 years or so.  The quality is not the best, but worth the time to download it to watch it.  A little on the light site, but what a joy to watch!
This is a video taken on the set between filming the episod
e  'Two Ounces of Tin'
You will see Johnny Ginger climbing out among the rocks, riding a horse and later a bike through the town.  Sammy Davis Jr. riding & drawing his pistols.  Johnny Crawford riding his horse & his bike around the town while crew members look on.  See if any of this set looks familiar to you.
Sorry, no Lucas!

My dad also played Billy the Kid in "The Three Stooges Outlaws is Coming."  I have a film from that as well. Be sure and check out Sean's father's website Johnny Ginger

A very special thanks to Sean & Johnny Ginger for sharing this great video & pictures with us.
