*Open letter to Johnny Crawford! Hey, Everybody! Do you know how we all have been after Jeff to record some of his songs? Well, he now has the opportunity to get it recorded but it came up very quickly and he needs our help to get it done. He’s looking for some investors for this project. Each investor will get a signed CD from Jeff along with his gratitude. Would you like to help? If so, please get with me and I’ll give you all the details on how you can become an investor and help Jeff with his CD. We all know how talented Jeff is. Let’s help him get the chance to show everybody else! Cowgirl | News on "The Rifleman" DVD's—Hey, everybody! I have some great news! At Cowgirl's suggestion, I wrote to the producers of The Rifleman about DVD sets and I received an answer today. They said "It is our intention to make the 50th anniversary a special event and we are in the process of duplicating the entire 168 episodes in a memorial set." Isn't that super? The letter did say we have to wait a few months, but at least we know it's coming! So for those of you who don't have the Western channel or any of the previous sets, just hang on for a bit longer! Thanks Linda C. for sharing this information with us! posted 1/29/08 |

HARASSMENT TO THE MCCAIN RANCH Go to The McCain Ranch Messageboard to follow this posting (posted 4/28/08)
Hi Rifleman fans!! I have some very disturbing news that I think you all should be aware of. First of all let me say that the ONLY reason for The Rifleman....."Welcome to The McCain Ranch" is for my love of The Rifleman TV series, old TV westerns in general, and keeping those memories alive. There are some people (person) are using these themes for personal gain and could care less about the nostalgia of the TV western's. Unfortunately one of those people (persons) has copied and pasted ALL 168 episodes among a lot of other things from this website (The McCain Ranch) WITHOUT my permission, and placed them on "his" website. The fact that he mentions who authored the writings at the bottom of each episode copy, in no way makes it any less plagiarizing. Legally perhaps (?), but certainly not morally, and to add insult, he uses his own copyright (?) to this material in his website. You don't take one person's website to build another website for yourself. Let's be original here!
He has been terrorizing the McCain Ranch for sometime now. I've had to lock The McCain Ranch messageboard and delete my guestbook because of him. I have been informed from some of "The Rifleman fans" that this person has moved the episode guide that is mine, not deleted them. Just because he has moved them does not justify anything, they are still there & they are still mine! I do not go to these sites, nor does The McCain Ranch support them, no matter what he has said in his website(s). Where you choose to go on the internet is up to you, I am not in competition here. The McCain Ranch is here for you, the fans of "The Rifleman." This is 'our' ranch.....'our' place in time.
It took me three years to write those episode, not counting all the other things "he" has taken from "The McCain Ranch....." SHAME....SHAME.....SHAME on you! posted 2/08 "Effective immediately 2/12/08—It is not permissible to copy any images or material from riflemanconnors.com for use on another website, message board or blog. Linking to any page on riflemanconnors.com is acceptable. I wish to thank everyone for their e-mails & support on this matter, without all of you this ranch would not be possible! Cowgirl

This is a new section to the newsletter. I know the ranch is really big and it is still growing. (How many acres did Lucas have?) I thought I would add a feature page of the month in each newsletter.
This months feature page is "When the West Was Fun" A 1979 TV Special Western Reunion Doug Abbott from TV Westerns photos had sent me a picture of "The Rifleman" & "The Lone Ranger" together from this special. This is what made me search this TV special out. For the longest time, this page was view more then any other page on The McCain Ranch. I remember when I first started searching the internet. There wasn't much on this show. I had already built this page and added a second page later. Yours truly had a small part in helping to bring this back out. Brad Marks also sent me my own DVD of this show signed by him. He had invited Johnny Crawford on his internet radio show and I was to be a caller. I did get to talk to both of these great men. Brad Marks did say they originally taped 3 hours of this TV special but only aired one hour. He did give The McCain Ranch the exclusive to this TV Western and The McCain Ranch is still helping to promote and sell this great western! Brad Marks did promise me if he ever releases the show it it's entirety, The McCain Ranch gets the exclusive. I have talked to a few stars that have appeared on this show. Jeff Connors was on the set of the filming of this also. posted 5/2/08 |

Jack Grinnage 'The Legacy'—I got in touch with Jack and asked him about the time he was on "The Rifleman" and if he remembered anything he would want to share with us. This is what he had to say.....Let me see, directed by Bernie Kowalski I think. I played a twin. I was sitting on my horse, and Chuck Connors walked in front of the horse, the horse was spooked, raised up on its hind legs and then came down on Chuck Connors foot. He rolled away, I don't remember if I controlled the horse or the wranglers came in. Chuck went home for the day. It was on a sound stage. I was not thrown. Other than that it was a ordinary day. I think Peter Jasmine played my brother, and we where suppose to be pretty wild. James Bartlett was the town drunk and we razzed him. Something like that. Interesting, Would love to see the pictures. thanks for the email. And hope my few memories helped. Take care. Jack G. Here is the Link to Jack's website |
| *I would like to apologize to those of you who has contributed to the ranch and I didn't get some of your stuff in the ranch this month. I will try my best for the June newsletter. Get ready to ride! "Keep your 'sites' on The Rifleman" "The Rifleman" can be seen regularly on Encore Westerns Monday through Friday at 7 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.; and Saturdays at 9:30 a.m. and 10 a.m. *The Encore Channel is showing the same opening scene for all five seasons of "The Rifleman" Not sure why, but I think MPI also did this when they had done the DVD's for the show. You're not the only one asking....."Isn't there more then one opening scene?" The different beginnings of the opening scenes to "The Rifleman" How many opening scene do you think there were? How many did you say? Are you sure? ; ) Pictures of the opening scenes For those who don't get The Western Channel.....a few people have mentioned you can download "The Rifleman" on Vongo to your computer. There is a fee for this. You also get the entire series uncut with good picture quality. I did have someone who had problems after they have downloaded this, but for the most part others recommend it. I'm not recommending this, just giving you the fan other options! Also.....have you tried your library? Keith from Indiana says.....I just wondered if anyone had apprised you of the fact that channel 46 WHME out of South Bend Indiana has been running The Rifleman for several years almost every evening at 6:30 PM EST. It is a “religious” station and shows very few commercials and the complete closing credits. (Once in a while it gets preempted for a religious news program.) Thanks Keith! |
