almost drowns when she falls off a diving board and into
the water, fully clothed.

Thomas Gomez as Artemus Quarles in
Stranger at Night.
Gomez began his
acting career in theater during the 1920s. He made his
first film Sherlock Holmes and the Voice of
Terror in 1942 and by the end of his career had
appeared in sixty films.
Nominated for Best
Supporting actor Oscar for his work in John Houston's
film classic Key Largo (1948). He appeared in
Arabian Nights (1942), White Savage (1943), Force of
Evil (1948), Harlem Globetrotters (1951), and Beneath
the Planet of the Apes (1970).
He played the role of
The Minister in the 1970 film, Beneath the Planet of the
Apes, one of his last appearances. Gomez became very
claustrophobic during filming and had to have the side
of his ape mask cut open to alleviate his fears.
