Whether they have appeared one time only or 168 times, they are just as
important as the main characters and/or anyone else involved in The
Rifleman. This is just a small tribute to those great many characters
actors.

recognizable actors. They may not be A-list stars, but they do something
many actors don't. They worked all the time.

Charles Macaulay as Sloan in Sheer Terror.
He was the man in charge.
Charles Macaulay appeared with Chuck in Arrest
& Trial.
Macaulay, an actor and
director who was prominent in legitimate theater but is best
remembered for his role as a the prosecutor facing Perry Mason
in six of Raymond Burr's Perry Mason movies and one as a
judge in Perry Mason Returns in 1985.
William Talman played the frustrated Dist. Atty. Hamilton Burger
in the original 1957-65 Perry Mason television series.
But Macaulay assumed the role for a group of television movies
in the 1980s and early 1990s.
He also appeared on Ironside several times.
Macaulay started acting in 1961 with his first appearance being
The Rifleman. His acting career spanned thirty-two years
and he appeared in about 200 television shows.
Macaulay's most prestigious
work was on the stage, he trained at London's Royal Academy of
Dramatic Arts. Upon graduation, he won the First Judges Medal
and notes of congratulation on his performance in The Heiress
from the eminent British actors John Mills and John Gielgud.
The actor taught at the USC
School of Theater from 1986 to 1992 and directed six student
productions.

Died: August 13, 1999 in Healdsburg, California
At 18 she was named "Miss Atlantic City." She never wore a
larger crown, but one year later she was a New York "chorine,"
noted for her resemblance to Lana Turner.
Maley was in the Broadway productions of I Gotta Get Out (1947) and
Joy to the World (1948).
He acting career spanned almost twenty years.
Peggy is best remembered as Mildred in The Wild One,
she delivered one of the most famous set-up lines in film
history: "Hey, Johnny, what're you rebelling against?" she
asked Marlon Brando.

Arthur Malet as Jeremy Pennebroke in Sporting Chance.
He was the man who came to North Fork to challenge The Rifleman.
He was an English supporting
actor of stage and screen, in the U.S. from the mid-1950's.
Tended to play characters older than his own age. Won two Drama
Desk Awards in 1957.
He played undertaker Ted Ulam
in the1967 film In the Heat of the Night, and Joe Fenwick
in a 1972 episode of Columbo. He went on to play a
village elder in Mel Brooks's Young Frankenstein in 1974,
the graveyard keeper in John Carpenter's Halloween in
1978, a houseman in the 1984 film Oh God, You Devil, and
Tootles in 1991's Hook after the original choice, Richard
Attenborough, decline the role as he was busy directing Chaplin
(1992).
His appearances on television
included episodes of The Donna Reed Show ― Adventures in
Paradise ― The Alfred Hitchcock Hour ― Bewitched ― Perry Mason
― The Andy Griffith Show. In 1995 he portrayed Charles
Randolph in A Little Princess. In 1997, he did voice work
in Anastasia. He voiced the character of Mr. Ages"in
The Secret of NIMH in 1982 and reprised the role in The
Secret of NIMH 2: Timmy to the Rescue in 1998.

1998. He had a recurring role on Dallas (TV Series -
1981 - 1990) and Casablanca (TV Series - 1983).and was a
regular on Easy Street (TV Series - 1986 - 1987)
