Charles Watts appeared in
three episode of The Rifleman ―
Panic as Maury Cass, he was
the man who tricked Mark into telling him about the yellow
fever ― The Brother-in-law as Alvah
Kemper, he was the one who offered Johnny $100 in prize
money if he could stay on Lucifer―
The Mescalero Curse
as Joe Beaseley, he was the man who witnessed the drunk
get run down by Juan Mogollan while coming out of the
saloon.
Charles Watts was a
graduate of Vanderbilt University, Peabody College and
Feagin School of Dramatic Arts in New York City.
Taught Business law and
Drama at Chattanooga High School, Chattanooga, Tennessee
1937-1938.
His motion pictures
career included roles in An Affair to Remember ―
The Big Circus ― Days of Wine and Roses ― Baby
the Rain Must Fall ― Giant ― Wheeler Dealers.
On stage he appeared in
such hits as Music Man ― Bell, Book and Candle ― The
Seven Year Itch including many more.
During World War II,
Watts was named Mr. Hollywood by the USO in
recognition for his tours over seas. He was said to be
the first entertainer to perform on the off-shore islands
between Formosa and the Chinese mainland and was made an
honorary member of the nationalist China Air Force for his
bravery.
As active on television
as he was in movies, he was in everything from The Lone
Ranger to Dennis the Menace.
Charles Watts was born October 30, 1912 in Clarksville, Tennessee
He died December 13 1966 in Nashville, Tennessee
