as Dave Chester, he claimed to be a cattleman, but really was
there to break Gordo out of jail ―
Tin Horn as John Keeler,
the crooked gambler. *William Bryant and Grant Richards both appeared together in
The Apprentice
Sheriff & Gun Fire as bad guys.
He started out in 1936
appearing on Hopalong Cassidy Returns as the evil Bob
Claiborne. Throughout the years he did westerns, comedy,
mysteries, detective shows, he played a really good gangster.
He appeared in The Untouchables eight times. He also appeared in
Ripcord ― The Real McCoys ―
77 Sunset Strip ― The Lawless Years ―
Death Valley Days ― Bourbon Street Beat ― Johnny Ringo
―
The Deputy ― Laramie ― M Squad ― Rawhide just to name a few.
He appeared mainly in movies
in the late 1930s through to the late 1950s. A versatile
actor.
Richards was a voice-over
regular on the popular 1930s radio series Gangbusters
that featured weekly episodes based on actual crime incidents.
Each program ended with various descriptions of wanted
criminals, many of whom were later arrested due to avid listener
participation. Sound like a earlier version of Unsolved
Mysteries.
Active on Broadway in the
following productions of Yellow Jacket/Winged Victory,
a historical musical drama (1943/44).
Grant Richards was born
December 21, 1911 in New York City, New York
He died July 4, 1963 in Los Angeles, California due to a car
accident at the age of 51
